About the Role

As a Solar Project Engineer, you will provide technical expertise throughout the development, engineering, and procurement of solar PV projects. You will work in a cross-functional position and support both the Transaction and Development teams in pursuit of investment opportunities, including acquisition, brownfield, and greenfield development. You will be responsible for delivering technical solutions for the successful construction and sale of solar PV projects.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Provide technical expertise and oversight of technical matters throughout the development process with a heavy focus on utility-scale and commercial PV system siting, engineering, construction methods, and system production modeling.
• Utilize knowledge of PV project engineering, electric generating facilities, renewable energy, utility interconnection requirements, and control/metering schemes to evaluate, identify, and mitigate commercial risks associated with proposed Project designs.
• Support the Project Development and Acquisitions process, including the management and review of the Technical Due Diligence and other internal or external reports.
• Lead the ongoing monitoring and maintenance strategy for projects, and provide cost estimates and resource requirements.
• Undertake or provide guidance on-site visits to both new greenfield sites and sites under development and/or construction.
  Keep abreast of developments in the PV solar field.

• Support solar PV design optimization initiatives for cost reduction and performance improvement.

About You

Requirements for the position:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering.
• 5 years of relevant experience working with utility Solar Power. Wind, Oil & Gas or Battery Storage is seen as an advantage.
• Experience from construction and Detailed Design development is desirable.
• Proficiency in engineering design software, including but not limited to: PVsyst, AutoCAD, etc. is needed.
• Working understanding of energy project finance.
• Additional knowledge of Energy Storage and infrastructure sector projects will be a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Finnish and English
• You are a driven and proactive person – you always try to be one step ahead, seeing possibilities and opportunities. Further on you are driven by technology, enjoying hands-on technical and modeling work as well as understanding commercial aspects of projects.
• You are used to working with diverse teams ranging from executive management and key stakeholders to construction contractors and construction personnel.
• This position is located in one of the OX2 offices in Finland and there will be a possibility for remote work. You should be available to travel up to 15% of the working time.
