Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Engineer. This role is responsible for leading the development of discrete-event simulation models and driving innovation in simulation modeling with a focus on manufacturing sustainability. Such models will be developed to identify tactical and strategic improvements in manufacturing and business operations. These models are used to provide insights into current operational capability and future operational potential to develop data-driven, profitable business decisions. This role will work closely with Industrial Engineers and Technicians to gather data and define models.

Responsibilities

  • Develop discrete event simulation models for various parts of the manufacturing and assembly line – Electrode, Assembly, Formation and Ageing, Upstream, Module and Pack
  • Use simulation software to design and run feasibility studies, bottleneck analysis, capacity studies, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Lead the development of simulation test cases for the verification of process change initiatives.
  • Utilize manufacturing and/or business operations experience to quickly frame the operational challenge and visualize a solution
  • Incorporate statistical variation, uncertainty, and impact of unplanned events on overall output
  • Develop stochastic models for MTBF/MTTR, Availability and OEE
  • Model scenarios for dynamic shift schedules, and labour optimization
  • Buffer size analysis, estimation, and resource utilization
  • Train new or existing employees in data management and model development best practices
  • Design business systems to effectively capture and visualize factory performance, including all relevant metrics
  • Apply lean principles and methods to develop standardized model and data frameworks in order to identify best practices in model development
  • Ability to harvest large sets of data and manipulate data from multiple sources to identify underlying trends and patterns. Efficiently evaluate data accuracy and completeness to establish processes and requirements necessary to maintain data integrity
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather comprehensive data required for model development and/or analysis
  • Effectively communicate model functionality to the client or internal team for validation of model results and accuracy
  • Generate, publish, and present reports to production leadership.

Background & Requirements

  • 2+ years of simulation experience using FlexSim, ProModel, Arena or equivalent
  • Experience in manufacturing, supply chain and/or distribution and logistics
  • Able to validate model outputs against real world results
  • Knowledge of statistics, uncertainty, and sensitivity analysis
  • Understanding of stochastic modelling, distribution fitting, and data analysis
  • Must be capable of leading technical discussions with a broad range of team members and management
  • Fluency in Spanish and English
