As a Maintenance Trainer Technologist, you work to improve the overall skill level of the Maintenance department in the Battery Plant. The trainer will help identify the technical skill set required to be a successful Maintenance technician and will define the level of performance per skill. The trainer will monitor the Maintenance department KPI’s to ensure that the current training curriculum aligns with the current skill issues on the floor and adjust if necessary. The Trainer will work across the organization to foster continuous improvement for long-term success.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the shift Supervisors in assessing the skill levels of the technicians
  • Assists Shift Supervisors in developing annual training plans for all technicians in the department
  • Responsible for procedure(s) of technician training history for each technician in the department
  • Develop and track all KPI’s related to technical training
  • Develop training curriculums and facilitate the training
  • Coordinate all training for new equipment installations
  • Communicate with suppliers and vendors regularly on training material and training class availability
  • Create shopping baskets for vendor training and training materials. Track and monitor all training expenses and training budget
  • Takes the lead role in explaining the department training system during any department capability audit.

Background and requirements

  • Degree in Industrial Engineering or another relevant field
  • Experience in a high-volume manufacturing facility. Automotive OEM or Tier 1 Supplier experience a plus
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a multi-skilled maintenance environment.
  • Experience working and leading a team across cultural and discipline boundaries
  • Fluent in French and English
