Based at Douai in Hauts-de-France region, the Environmental Specialist oversees the company’s environmental policy. They will create and coordinate the environmental management system. Works to obtain and maintain ISO 14001/50001 certifications and above all seeks to improve the company’s environmental and energy performance. You will also be responsible for managing environmental impacts and preventing the associated risks. Monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements and applications for operating permits.

Responsibilities –  Environmental Specialist

• Compliance: Site classified as SEVESO high threshold, the environmental specialist, in liaison with the external authorities and with the support of internal and corporate departments, monitors and maintains the site’s compliance with all regulatory requirements through regular monitoring.
• Representation of the company: The Environmental specialist manages relations with key stakeholders (residents, communities), you will deal with complaints and associated non-conformities. Play the role of interface with official bodies such as the prefecture, the Water Agencies, the DDE, the Dreal. You must check the texts and prefectural decrees to find out about the new requirements. It is also the responsibility of the Environment specialist to draft and manage the authorization application files related to the operation of ICPE facilities relating to new activities or the establishment of new sites
• Design: The Environment Manager is responsible for designing, leading and managing the application of the environmental policy of the company in which they work in collaboration with the managers. This policy is formulated by the general management about the analysis of the internal and external context carried out by the Environmental Manager. It intervenes on processes, investments, skills, and the organization of work. Its role is to convince of the issues and the need to act for the environment.
• Advice: It is up to the Environmental Manager to propose to top Management, in line with the company’s strategy, an overall policy which must be both global and detailed. This policy aims to improve the company’s performance in terms of the environment, and to reduce its environmental impact
• Management: Is in charge of creating and managing the implementation of an environmental management system (EMS) within the company and for its various sites in order to improve its performance such as the reduction of emissions of greenhouse gases, water and energy consumption, waste management, biodiversity…
• Control: The control of compliance with environmental procedures and the measurement of their effectiveness is ensured by the Environmental Manager through audits but also through various environmental measures and managerial visits.

Background and Requirements :

• Bachelor’s degree in a related environment discipline
• An in-depth understanding of ICPE regulation and French administration. Experience in request for production authorization.
• ISO450001/IATF16949/ISO14001/ISO50001/REACH.
• SEVESO management experience is a plus.
• Waste management.

• Three or more years of directly related professional-level Engineering experience.
